Make us an Offer! – Spin Arts at The Thornbury Centre
Spin Arts & trustees of The Thornbury Centre, are exploring an exciting way of working together that could see a community building turned into a thriving arts & cultural hub.
Thanks to support from Bradford Producing Hub’s Transforming Spaces and Bradford Council, we’re entering a feasibility and testing phase.
The building houses 2 large halls, a community cafe, library, food bank and 14 offices. We’re inviting artists & creatives to help make it a home.
For the last few years, the building has been running at a slight deficit, a common problem for community centres across the country. It’s not an eye watering amount, but it does require some investment so this fabulous resource can stay in the hands of the community and available for creatives.
Spin Arts and trustees of The Thornbury Centre are working hard behind the scenes to address this, and we hope we’ll be able to offer highly subsidised, possibly even free space to artists and creatives in the future. Whilst this strategic work takes place, we want you to know we’re here and open for rehearsals, meetings, events and performances.
Let’s be honest, until we’ve plugged the financial gap, offering free space may not always be possible, but we welcome suggestions, negotiations and donations.
We’ll do our best to accommodate you, but please be patient while we figure out the processes that will result in a sustainable resource for the community.
